Prof. Dr.Mohamed El-Sayed El-Shinawi

Mohamed El-Sayed El-Shinawi M.B.B.CH., M.Sc., Ph.D., M.D, FACS is Professor of General Surgery, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.

Currently the Acting President, Vice President for International Cooperation, Community Services & Environmental Development at Galala University in Egypt. 

Dr Shinawi is the advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research At international level.

Dr Shinawi is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine , Maryland University , Baltimore, USA. Co-Chair of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area Initiative “PRIMA Foundation, Barcelona, Spain”, Board member of the National Training Institute, Member of the UFM Bureau for Research and Innovation, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and  Consultant of General Surgery in several hospitals in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Dr Shinawi is the Regional Lead Trainer of the Sequential Trauma Educational Program “STEPs course “conducted in Egypt and Sudan in collaboration with Maryland University, USA.

Dr. Shinawi, is the president of Ain Shams Medical Student Research Association and a member of a several prestigious local and international organizations and societies as the American Association of Cancer Research and board member of Breast and Gynecological International Cancer Society. 

Dr. Shinawi is responsible about the International affairs and agreements of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research  in Egypt and responsible for t program auditing,  different partnerships and agreements in the ministry including and not limited to supervising the RDI program, Egypt-EU partnership Unit, Board Member of Egypt-US higher committee in STI, finalizing many agreements between Egypt and worldwide countries.

Beside being an expert surgeon with popular reputation Dr Shinawi is also interested in cancer research collaborating with different scientists from different national and international organizations such as USA, Germany, UK, France and Canada studying whether breast cancer patients’ variability in genome/proteome and inflammatory mediators may alter clinical manifestations of the disease in comparison to Western countries.

Dr. Shinawi’s research emphasis is to collaborate with cancer biologists to understand disease pathogenesis aiming to identify novel cellular and molecular pathways that could be therapeutically target.

Dr. El-Shinawi in an expert in trauma and emergency care, he was the former head of the Emergency Hospital, Ain Shams Hospitals.
