Prof. Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim

Advisor to the President of the British University in Egypt

Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim is a Professor of Geology and Environmental Sciences in the Faculty of Science – Alexandria University, Egypt.

He is currently working as Advisor to the President of the British University in Egypt BUE.

He was the Acting President of Matrouh University (2018-2019).

Vice President for Matrouh Branch (2016 – September 2018). Dean Faculty of Science, Alexandria University (2010-2016). Vice Dean for Community Development and Environment Affairs (2007-2010).

He has an M.Sc (1986) in Palynology and Micropaleontology from the Alexandria University. He obtained his Ph.D in Palynology, Micropaleontology and Paleoenvironment in 1993 from the University of Alexandria and the Technical University of Berlin (channel program).

He is the author of more than 55 research articles on Palynology, micropaleontology, paleoecology and Environmental Sciences in peer-reviewed journals.

He was the National Coordinator and Member of the IGCP 381 “South Atlantic Mesozoic Correlation” and member of AASP, BMS, GSE, EPS, and ESQUA.

In 2003, he awarded the Alexandria University Scientific Prize and in 2004, he awarded the State of Egypt Prize in 2004.

He got the Ministry of Environment Affairs prize in 2013 as one of the Environment Pioneers in Egypt.

In 2016, he awarded the Alexandria University Appreciation prize. He was a team member and PI of about 10 national and international research projects dealt with Palynology, Geology, climate change and Environmental Impact Assessment. 

He got a Fulbright scholarship from January to June 2006 and afterword he is one of the Fulbright panelist for selection of scholars in the field of Geology and Environmental Sciences.

He is the manager of ENPI CBC-MED “Mid Algae” European Project, and Alexandria University coordinator of Internationalization in Higher Education Institutions BUCUM Project.
